Like us people, dogs can suffer from skin problems. Skin problems on dogs are one of the most common concerns for everyone who owns dogs. Skin problems can be caused by a number of problems: parasites, allergies, bacterial or viral. Although it can be really tedious, dogs skin problems can be treated by using natural remedies. It can be sometimes beneficial too, since some remedies made out of chemical products can aggravate the problem, making it harder to take it off your dogâs system. One of the most common natural remedies for skin problems is the oatmeal bath. You can find some ready0made oatmeal bath products in the supermarket but you can also DIY at home by just preparing the ingredients and follow the procedures below.
For the ingredients, you need to prepare 1 cup of oatmeal â uncooked and preferably unflavored â and lukewarm water. It is just basically like preparing for a serving of an oatmeal breakfast, except that you are not going to eat it but you are going to bathe your dog with it. Make sure to grind the oatmeal first using a blender and make it into fine powder. Fill the bath tub with lukewarm water and pour the oatmeal powder while it is still filling. Stir the water until it becomes cloudy. Make sure that the powder is dissolved in the water.
After preparing it you can then place your dog in the oatmeal bath water and put some water on its back and head. But be really careful to not put some on his eyes for it can become really irritating. Let the dog soak in it for around 15 minutes. If your dog has a furry coat then you need to massage it a bit more. After 15 minutes you can remove the dog from the bathtub and then rinse off its coat with lukewarm water and pat dry. Repeat the oatmeal bath twice when your dog is suffering from skin problems on dogs like severe itching and dry and scaly skin.
